Scenic Painting Class Project
Painted an ornament with Trompe-l'œil technique to create an optical illusion as if it was three dimensions. For this project, I worked on cast shadow, highlight, and shade. With a reference photo of 6" x 4", I learned to scale my rendering to the appropriate size of my work surface. I did my rendering with chalk then used an electric pounce to create a stencil of my drawing. Applied the stencil to my marble background and applied shadow, highlight, and shade. One thing I realized on this project by focusing on gesture, structure, proportions, and perspective my shadowing came naturally. An Important lesson I learned was to work on details later in my process.
